Reinvigorating homes that are not terribly old can be a tricky business, but when Linda Habak, director at Linda Habak Design was briefed to create a home that ‘evoked joy, not awe’ featuring colour, art and a proliferation of Australian designed products, she had the perfect starting point.
The home, built by its owners seventeen years ago, now houses three teenage boys so a flexible blend of spaces was required “We devised a floor plan that functioned efficiently for both small gatherings with friends and large-scale entertaining, which meant a mix of open plan and intimate spaces,” says Linda. The new-floor plan called for custom joinery to optimise storage, an update to the kitchen and bathrooms as well as new fittings, fixtures, furniture, art, and interior and exterior colours. Externally, entertaining zones including a cabana, fire pit and outdoor shower were all devised by LHD.
The bathroom spaces were also reimagined. “With the boys bathroom I wanted it to be a space that suited three teenagers but still felt timeless and sophisticated and would see them through the next phase of their lives. The tones in the Jagger design were amazing and we pulled out the blue hues and paired it with a slender border tile,” says Linda. “The brief for our clients master bathroom requested a serene and harmonious feeling, so Flannel Flower was the perfect selection for its warmth, yet lightness.”
With a very tight deadline, Fibonacci’s ‘No Lead Time’ guarantee once again proved to be a significant drawcard. We had only a four-month turnaround so the 'no lead time' was a specific requirement on this project. We are very happy with the result of both bathroom spaces. “I knew I was going to use the Fibonacci product right from the get go - at the concept stage,” says Linda. “It was a natural choice as it provided a high-quality product with excellent specifications such as low porosity, easy installation and maintenance but ultimately, it provided the perfect aesthetic result. We are so happy with the result in both bathroom spaces.
