City Pad by Revel Design
City Pad by Revel DesignA small footprint, fully resolved

Sixty square metres in a city tower is an exercise in editing, where every surface is seen from every other part of the room. In City Pad, a one-bedroom apartment, Revel Design treats that limit as the brief rather than the obstacle, removing the wall between kitchen and living so a single open space can do the work of several.

The result is a plan that changes through the day. A concealed Murphy bed and a dining table on castors let the apartment shift from a quiet space for one to a setting for a small gathering and back again. Compact living here is not about fitting more in, but about asking each element to hold more than one role.

The material language is deliberately spare. Black engineered timber runs underfoot, crisp white tile lifts the walls, and Venetian plaster carries the light softly across the rooms, warmed by earth tones and a run of Tasmanian oak through the kitchen. In a space this size, restraint is less a style than a discipline.

At the centre sits the kitchen island, surfaced in Ink Blot XL Terrazzo Slabs. It reads as a scatter of black fragments set into a pale grey base, warmed by the occasional fleck of fawn. The dark chips answer the timber floor, the grey ground meets the white tile, and the fawn draws a quiet thread to the oak. In a room built on black and white, Ink Blot settles between the two, a surface that rewards a closer look in a home where every decision is on show.
